Rare Grains: Volume 1 – Set of 3 (30ml)

£50.00

This set contains 3 samples (30ml per sample) of rare grain whiskies, two of which are from lost distilleries – North of Scotland (closed in 1980) and Cambus (closed in 1993). The samples are as follows:

North of Scotland – 1972 Vintage 49 Year Old Single Grain Whisky (40.5% abv)

Nose: Golden syrup. Ripe banana skins. Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole. Faint sage. Butterscotch. Mead.

Palate: Warm brioche. Bitter chocolate. Porridge. Light bubblegum. Overcooked custard.

Finish: Spiced apples. Nutmeg. Maple syrup. Mixed nuts. Dried apricots.

Cambus – 1980s United Distillers Official Bottling (40% abv)

Nose: Lemon curd. Old gin (pre 1970s botanicals). Butterscotch. Spring air.

Palate: Thick porridge. Very creamy. Dried banana slices. Shortbread. Botanical note shines through. Homemade jam tarts.

Finish: Warm gingerbread. Sweet malts. Dry oak.

North British – 1980 Vintage Official Bottling (60.3% abv)

Nose: Very corn heavy. Rich salted caramel notes. Sandy beach. Rice pudding. Meringues.

Palate: Gingerbread. Palate is bordering on full proof bourbon territory due to the frankly insane sweetness and visible corn presence. Mead. Heavy butterscotch notes.

Finish: Bitter chocolate and marzipan to finish.

Please Note: All three of these whiskies are available to purchase separately on our web shop.
