North British 1980 Vintage, Cask Strength – 30ml
This is a rare 1980 vintage North British single grain whisky that was bottled at a cask strength of 60.3% abv.
This release was ONLY available for employees of the distillery. Whilst the whisky doesn’t have an age statement we believe this was bottled at some point during the late 1980s/early 1990s.
To the best of our awareness North British has only ever been officially bottled nine times in the distillery’s 140 year old lifetime, as such this cask strength offering presents an excellent opportunity to try North British distillate in its purest form. A rare treat indeed.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Very corn heavy. Rich salted caramel notes. Sandy beach. Rice pudding. Meringues.
Palate: Gingerbread. Palate is bordering on full proof bourbon territory due to the frankly insane sweetness and visible corn presence. Mead. Heavy butterscotch notes.
Finish: Bitter chocolate and marzipan to finish.
North British Distillery – Active

Since the late 1990s the distillery has actually been run as a joint venture between Edrington and Diageo. North British is an integral component to a number of blends such as Famous Grouse, Chivas Regal and J&B.
