This is a fantastic Mortlach 1989 vintage bottling by the iconic Berry Brothers & Rudd and a rare old example of this famous beast in bourbon as opposed to its typical sherried preference. It’s a great example that showcases the muscular power of Mortlach’s spirit.
Distilled in 1989 this release is a vatting of two casks (no.973 & 974) and was subsequently bottled in 2003 at 46%.

Nose: So fresh – wave after wave of orchard notes. Elegant yet powerful, Mortlach’s muscular weight is still shining through. Fruit salad. Sandalwood. Kiwi skins. Gooseberry jam. New candles. Fragrant spring walks.
Palate: Medley of fresh pear & apple notes. Yellow raisins. Beeswax. Pine nuts. New leather. Wet turf. Walnuts. Sponge cake.
Finish: Apple strudel & vanilla custard. Nutmeg. Mead.
