This is a fantastic Mortlach 15 year old bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at some point during the 1980s and contains early 1970s (and possibly late 1960s) distilled whisky from the iconic Beast of Dufftown. This was bottled at 40% abv. This is chock-full of notes of old school sherrywood, dried fruits and cured meats!
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Dried mango strips. Cured Iberico ham. Midsummer hedgerows. Sweet green apples. Chopped strawberries. Discarded lemon peels. Fresh, unadulterated leather.
Palate: Blackberries. Bitter orange peels. Caramel. Soot. Dates. Bay leaf. Dry sherry. Gentle liquorice presence.
Finish: Further dry sherrywood notes. Figs & plums. Emerging menthol.
