This is a rather unusual but thoroughly tasty 12 year old blend from the 1960s featuring 1950s floor malted Linkwood whisky at the heart of the blend. Liquid history!
The Chequers blend was first introduced in the 1960s and by the 1970s was being imported into Italy by Silvano Samaroli. Chequers was created by John McEwan & Company who were also responsible for two other blends of yesteryear: Abbot’s Choice & King George IV.
Please note: the strength of the whisky is unknown as the bottle has no abv on it.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Marmalade. Green fruits. Aniseed. Old mead. Heather. Damp earth.
Palate: Orchard fruits. Vanilla pods. Old oak. Stewed fruits. Malt extract.
Finish: Fleshy fruits. Cinnamon. Refined wood spice. Mixed apples.
