Cambus 1980s Official Bottling – 30ml
This is a very rare official bottling of Cambus that was released at some point during the 1980s by United Distillers (now Diageo).
Cambus Distillery was sadly closed in 1993 and its site is now a Diageo cooperage.
The whisky was bottled at 40% abv.
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Lemon curd. Old gin (pre 1970s botanicals). Butterscotch. Spring air.
Palate: Thick porridge. Very creamy. Dried banana slices. Shortbread. Botanical note shines through. Homemade jam tarts.
Finish: Warm gingerbread. Sweet grain. Dry oak.
Cambus Distillery – Closed
Founded in 1806, Cambus was one of the original cornerstones of DCL (now Diageo) and a massive player in the production of grain whisky.
In 1964, Cambus was actually the first Scottish distillery to have a by-products plant.
Unfortunately, Cambus was closed in 1993 as a result of Diageo’s £100 million production reorganisation. However, that wasn’t the end of Cambus as today the site exists as Diageo’s cooperage hub.
