This is a fantastic early 1980s Berry’s Best 8 year old blend from Berry Brothers & Rudd. Due to label deterioration we are unable to determine the volume but would suspect it to be 40% abv.
The Berry’s Best bottlings from this period were known to heavily feature vattings of sherry butts from Macallan, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Longmorn, Laphroaig, Glenrothes & Mortlach in the recipe of the blend. They certainly don’t make blends like this any more!
Our Tasting Notes:
Nose: Wood varnish. Dragon fruit. Chimney smoke. Old leather pub stools. Discarded citrus peels. Luxardo cherries.
Palate: Notable malt backbone. Grilled pineapples. Red berries. Dusty oak. Dry sherry notes. Earthy fruits.
Finish: Further leather notes. Raisins. Drying oak. Subtle smoke.
