£24.00

This is a 1991 vintage, single cask 15 year old Ardbeg that was bottled by Douglas Laing for their Old Malt Cask range in October 2006.

The whisky was matured in a rum finished barrel, bottled at 50% abv (like all other Old Malt Cask releases) and limited to just 312 bottles.

90s Ardbeg – Check. Single Cask 90s Ardbeg – Check. Single cask 90s Ardbeg WITH a rum cask finish – TRIPLE CHECK. This really is a fantastic opportunity to try a rare, delicious and multilayered Ardbeg that is perfect for the approaching summer months.

Our Tasting Notes:

Nose: The nose is a wonderfully obnoxious blend of smoke and spice. Oily leather. Vanilla ice cream. Hay bales. Cooked jackfruit.

Palate: Rich BBQ sauce. Flame grilled pineapples. Candied citrus. Paprika. Dry peat.

Finish: Figs. Additional leather. Long, dry and smoky finish.

Ardbeg Distillery – Active

An iconic distillery on Islay’s south shore, Ardbeg was founded in 1815. Next to Laphroaig it is perhaps the most famous peated whisky distillery on the planet and has always been a highly individual and distinct distillery regarding its liquid and brand identity.

Despite Ardbeg’s modern popularity, it did face turbulence over the years and was mothballed a couple of times in the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1997, Ardbeg was purchased by Glenmorangie, and since 2004 both distilleries have been owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy.
