Our Tasting Notes:
Old Pulteney – 1989 Vintage, Lightly Peated (46% abv)
Nose: Glowing BBQ embers. Cooked grapefruit rinds. Campfire smoke. Faint aroma of Wick harbour in the background. Black tea.
Palate: Bitter orange. Apple pie. Nutmeg. Lemon rinds. Crème caramel.
Finish: Woodspice. Dirty and dusty oak. Hot cocoa. Gentle smoke.
Laphroaig – 1989 Vintage, 15 Year Old – Old Malt Cask
Nose: Ash. Tar. Sriracha. Old candles. Crystallised papaya. Crispy bacon.
Palate: Intense peat notes supported by charred citrus and a slightly salty kick. Tobacco. Smoked salmon. Dry wood.
Finish: Coal tar. Further bacon notes. Touch of sulphur. Earthy finish.
This is a beautiful and flavoursome Laphroaig and well worth trying!
Tormore 1989 Vintage, 11 Year Old – Signatory Vintage
Nose: Crème Brûlée. Poached pear. Incense. Parma violets.
Palate: Figs. Eucalyptus. Apple chutney. Herb gardens. Condensed milk.
Finish: Green chilli. Raspberry seeds. Cumin.
